"Military Families First" is a military appreciation event in which local attractions and businesses in Fayetteville offer discounts to show appreciation to Soldiers and their families. The 2009 Military Families First event will be held throughout Fayetteville on May 9, 2009. As part of the event, Cape Fear Botanical Garden will offer the following:
 

• Military discount on adult workshop: Create a patriotic Red, White and Blue Mixed Hanging Basket.
• Military discount on adult workshop: Loving Your Lawn.
• Patriotic scavenger hunt throughout the Garden and free toy for children who participate.
• Military discount on general admission; children under 12 are FREE.
