For Children

Cape Fear Botanical Garden's Education Department

offers programs for children of all ages and abilities!

Nature Tales

Our FREE popular preschool story and craft time is held twice a month. Each month we explore a different natural science theme.

Pre-registration is required for Nature Tales and the sessions fill up quickly. Please reserve a spot for your child at one of two sessions: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; or 10:30 to 11:30a.m.  Click here to register on-line.

The story and craft are appropriate for our "Little Bloomers" (ages two to six) but all ages are welcome.  Click here for the 2013 Nature Tales Schedule.

CFBG Treasure Hunt and Botanical Bingo

A fun way to explore the Garden! Each month, our Director of Education creates a new and exciting "treasure hunt" throughout the Garden. Stop in the Farmhouse to pick up your clues. Then take off throughout the grounds in search of numbered pine cones as you learn about the educational topic of the month.  Those who complete the hunt can earn a special prize from our Treasure Chest. Younger children can search for common natural objects in a game of "botanical bingo." These children are also eligible for a prize.

Scout Badges

Both Boy and Girl Scouts may use work at the Garden to complete existing scouting badge/rank requirements. Many Eagle Scout projects have been completed on the premises. Work is done on a project-by-project basis. Contact our Director of Education at (910) 486-0221 x 27 for more information.

Birthday Fun

Why not celebrate a birthday at the Garden? Cape Fear Botanical Garden now offers themed children's birthday parties!  Let us take care of the hassles for you. Call Jen Smith, Director of Education, at (910) 486-0221 x 27 to discuss the possibilities.
