Volunteers are the heart of Cape Fear Botanical Garden, playing a vital role in bringing our mission to life. Whether you enjoy engaging with visitors, working with plants, assisting with education programs, or supporting special events, there’s a place for you in our volunteer community.
With opportunities year-round, both indoors and outdoors, volunteering at the Garden is a great way to learn new skills, meet like-minded people, and give back to a space that inspires thousands of visitors each year.
For those looking for a regular, long-term commitment, ongoing volunteers play an essential role in the Garden’s daily operations. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from experts, and become part of a passionate team. Volunteers commit to a weekly or biweekly schedule, enjoy enriching social and educational experiences, and may have opportunities to take on leadership roles in events and programs.
To make a meaningful impact, we encourage ongoing volunteers to commit to at least 40 hours per year—whether through weekly shifts, seasonal projects, or event support.
If a regular commitment isn’t for you, consider volunteering for a single event! These one-time opportunities allow you to support the Garden while experiencing our most popular seasonal events, such as:

Projects can be tailored to your group size and interests, and we’ll provide all the tools and guidance you need.
