CAPE FEAR BOTANICAL GARDEN RECEIVES A SUMMERTIME KIDS GRANT FROM THE CUMBERLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Fayetteville, NC – Cape Fear Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the receipt of a Summertime Kids
grant from Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. The $5,000 grant will support camp activities and
scholarships.

Art inspires, science educates, and the outdoors exhilarates! Cape Fear Botanical Garden is grateful for the
thoughtful support of the Cumberland Community Foundation and its donors. Summer camp is an
experience every child deserves, but not every family can accommodate. This generous support provides
deserving children in our community with an opportunity to get outside and become excited about the
wonders of the natural world.

“Camp at Cape Fear Botanical Garden guides hundreds of children in discovering the joy of learning about nature. Activities with S.T.E.A.M. themes include science experiments, art projects, outdoor explorations, and interactive games. Camp at the Garden provides opportunities for social and emotional growth while helping children improve skills, build friendships, and enjoy a feeling of belonging. Camp also inspires children to become good stewards of our Earth.” says Barbara Goldentyer, Environmental Education Manager.

A sample of camps include:
* River Journeys campers will learn so much as they embark on a scenic hike along the picturesque
Cape Fear River Trail, the largest river system in North Carolina, which flows right through our Garden!
* Fabric Creations campers will connect with the colorful world of fabric arts, natural dyes, try weaving
on looms and crafting small hooked rugs.
* Summer Naturalists campers will unleash their creativity with nature-inspired art projects, come
face-to-face with live reptiles for an up-close encounter, and unlock the hidden treasures of geodes
once cracked open.
* New this year- Global Tastes campers are in for tasty treats during the week-long. Each day brings a
new adventure from a different corner of the world. From experiencing exotic dishes to crafting
souvenirs inspired by diverse cultures, the journey will immerse campers in the sights, sounds, and
flavors of far-off lands.
