Workshop Description: Discover all the fruits and vegetables which you can grow from your left-over kitchen scraps. Learn new techniques and get hands-on experience with planting and propagating. Confidently plant avocado pits, sprout tomato seeds, and root pineapple tops! Discover which vegetables are easiest to grow and learn some easy ways to trouble shoot if needed.
Audience Target:
Adults and teens ages 10+ interested in gardening or growing food. No prior gardening experience required.

Presenter: Education Manager, Barbara Goldentyer has been at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden for 6 years. She has a Master’s in Environmental Studies and she has always enjoyed exploring nature. She got the idea for this class from her mom’s many attempts to grow leftover food. For a while, her parents had a small forest of potted avocado plants that had to be moved in and out of the living room depending on the weather.
