Adult Workshop: Intro to Propagation with Horticulture Manager Chad Shelby

Join Horticulture Manager Chad Shelby for an introduction to plant propagation. Whether you’re looking to expand your garden or share plants with friends, this hands-on workshop will teach you the basics of propagating plants from cuttings, seeds, and more. You’ll leave with practical knowledge and tips to grow your own garden from scratch.
Instructor Bio: Chad Shelby has been studying Horticulture since 2018. He completed his A.A.S. in Horticulture and is currently pursuing his B.S. in Agriculture Education. Before entering Horticulture, he was in the U.S. Army for 10 years, where he served as an Infantryman. Over the years, he has gained experience in adult education, viticulture, project management, irrigation, and greenhouse/nursery management. He has been the project manager for several pro bono projects, specifically ones that involve Non-Profits like The C.A.R.E Clinic and St. John’s Episcopal Church. His work includes The Staff garden at the C.A.R.E. Clinic, Community Patriot Arts Connection Veteran’s Garden, and building the Daylily Garden at Cape Fear Botanical Garden.
Audience Target: This class is perfect for anyone interested in growing plants whether you’re just beginning to garden, primarily focus on houseplants, or have been experimenting with propagation for years. The class is designed for adults. Children ages 10+ are also welcome.
Format: This is a combination presentation and hands-on workshop that will include an opportunity to take plant cuttings and practice propagation.
