Adult Workshop: Understanding Ferns with Dr. Linda Sue Barnes

Explore the fascinating world of ferns with a retired professor of Botany Dr. Linda Sue Barnes. Learn about the different types of ferns, their growth habits, and how to care for them in your garden. Take a walk and learn to identify ferns growing in the garden. The workshop will also include potting a fern plant for you to take home and care for, making it a hands-on experience in fern appreciation.
Instructor Bio: Dr. Linda Sue Barnes is a Professor Emeritus of Botany. She was born and raised in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. She has a B.A. in Biology from Mississippi College (now known as Mississippi Christian University), an M.A. in Biology from the University of Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is also a weekly volunteer in the Day Lily Garden.
Audience Target: This class is perfect for beginners and experienced gardeners alike. The class is designed for adults however children ages 10+ are also welcome.
Format: This workshop will include a short lecture-style presentation, a walk in the garden, and a hands-on planting component.
