Christmas Bird Count with Hal Broadfoot

Join us for a fun and educational event as we participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count! This beloved tradition brings together bird enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to contribute valuable data to bird conservation efforts. This year we are joined by Hal Broadfoot, Fayetteville resident and birding expert, as he shares his vast knowledge of birds.

What to Expect:

  • Bird Identification: Learn to identify local bird species with the help of experienced birders and field guides.
  • Counting Protocol: Understand the counting methodology and how your observations contribute to scientific research.

About the Christmas Bird Count: The Christmas Bird Count is a citizen science initiative organized by the National Audubon Society aimed at monitoring bird populations during the winter season. By participating in this event, you join a global community dedicated to understanding and conserving avian biodiversity.

Audience Target: All ages are welcome!

Format: Guided Hike

Fee Includes: 

  • Guided instruction from an expert birder
  • Admission to the Garden
  • Limited binoculars available for borrowing

Location: Please meet in the Entry Pavilion

Fee: $15 per person, $5 for Garden members

Preregistration is not required.
