Cape Fear Botanical Garden

Local Artist in Residence

Cape Fear Botanical Garden is hosting Trish Brownlee, a Fayetteville mixed-media artist, photographer, and educator, as an Artist-in-Residence, to create paper art using plants from the Garden and recycled material. From August 6-11, the public is invited to drop in from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm to visit with Trish and learn about the art of papermaking and to participate in the process. Workshops and events are scheduled to give visitors a hands-on experience in the art of papermaking. Please check each event for admission pricing and registration forms.

“We are eagerly anticipating Trish’s return. Her work is so unique and beautiful, and every step of the process, from selecting base items, to watching the paper change as it dries, is so interesting to observe.” – Mara Mitchell, Education Specialist.

Ms. Brownlee’s technique of incorporating natural materials from the Garden into her papermaking process fits seamlessly with the Garden’s mission to connect people with nature. By blending nature with important cultural experiences such as art, the Garden contributes in sustaining a vibrant community with access to affordable and relevant art, culture and education.
