Cape Fear Botanical Garden is hosting Trish Brownlee, a Fayetteville mixed-media artist, photographer, and educator, as an Artist-in-Residence, to create paper art using plants from the Garden and recycled material. From August 6-11, the public is invited to drop in from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm to visit with Trish and learn about the art of papermaking and to participate in the process. Workshops and events are scheduled to give visitors a hands-on experience in the art of papermaking.   • Kids Papermaking Class, August 7 at 2:00 pm: Learn the history of papermaking and create our own handmade paper from plants and rags. Experiment with paper painting and keep your creations.
  • Papermaking Showcase, August 8 at 5:00 pm: Trish Brownlee creates paper from plants in the Garden and recycled materials. Drop in to visit with Trish to learn about the art of papermaking and participate in the process. Her work will be on display and for sale until 8:00 pm. Come support a local artist!
  • Adult Papermaking Class, August 9 at 2:00 pm: Learn the history of papermaking and create our own handmade paper from plants and rags. Experiment with paper painting and keep your creations. For ages 16+

Ms. Brownlee’s technique of incorporating natural materials from the Garden into her papermaking process fits seamlessly with the Garden’s mission to connect people with nature.
