Special Program for Senior Veterans
Earlier this year, Cape Fear Botanical Garden received a generous grant from Home Instead Senior Care. This grant created the opportunity for senior veterans (55 and better) to enjoy a free series of adaptive Therapeutic Horticulture gardening classes. Unfortunately, these group classes had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, Cape Fear Botanical Garden has an alternative gardening opportunity for you! Senior. Veterans can pick up a FREE garden kit from the Garden Gift Shop, spend an hour individually (with a companion) in the Garden for a socially-distanced gardening class, or speak by phone or a garden consultation.
If you would like to participate in this program or know a Senior Veteran who would like to participate, please email Amy Stidham, CFBG Therapeutic Horticulture Program Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up!
Cape Fear Botanical Garden has several programs for Seniors. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the Garden, check out the Garden’s website: capefearbg.org or call 910-486-0221, ext. 42.
Want to volunteer? Volunteers are always needed in the Garden for both inside and outside support. We’d love to talk to you about volunteer opportunities. You can make a difference! Cape Fear Botanical Garden is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit.
