Cape Fear Botanical Garden

The Garden School

The Garden now requires visitors, aged five and up, attending any Garden education programs to wear masks at all times, indoor and outdoor, unless actively eating and drinking. To better protect the health and safety of visitors, our Education Team, and those who may have compromised immune systems, the Garden will not allow exemptions or exceptions to this policy. Please help us keep everyone safe. Should you have any questions, please contact our Education Manager Barbara Goldentyer at 910-486-0221, ext. 43 or email:

Looking for a way to help your child get excited about learning in an age of virtual classes? Garden School provides a joyful, outdoor, exploratory experience that supplements home school, virtual school, or part-time in-person learning. Trained educators will guide your child through grade level science curriculum with a combination of home explorations, virtual classes, and socially distanced outdoor programs that emphasize active learning with hands-on experiments, artistic creation, and nature discovery.

$65 a month for non-members

$50 a month for members

$40 for third child or more

Scholarships available

Garden School class times have been released! Families can choose from multiple available sessions of each class to allow for different schedules as families are homeschooling or working around virtual or part-time school hours. Each child should ideally attend 2 virtual classes and 1 in-person class a week. Before the start of the month, families will get an email to select the sessions that work best for their schedules.
