FULL! Homeschool: Rivers and Ponds

April 26 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This program is FULL! Please join us for our next homeschool program in May. Homeschoolers will learn about the important ecosystems found in rivers and ponds. We’ll discuss life in the Cape Fear River and use nets to dip for animals in the pond. This program is a drop-off class. Preregistration is required. $5 supply fee plus regular admission or membership. Ages 6+

Tai Chi

Practice this flowing eastern exercise with instructor Rich Martin while overlooking the Garden. Held every Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. indoors or outside depending on the weather. FULL! Preschool: Growing Gardens Session A

This class is FULL! You may still be able to register for the 11 am session.  Enjoy the spring growth with a walk to look for flowers, a spring story book, and an opportunity to create a play-doh garden. There are two back-to-back sessions of this class. All ages are welcome, but this class is designed for children ages 4-6. A parent or guardian must stay during the entire program. Preregistration is required. Free with Garden Membership or regular admission.

In this class, we’ll explore the wacky undersea world of fish by taking nets to dip in the pond. This program is a drop-off class. Preregistration is required. Scavenger Hunt: Flowers

Get outside and enjoy the spring weather with this flower scavenger hunt. Spring flower pictures are hidden around the Garden. Find them all and pick up a prize at the Gift Shop! This event is free with membership or admission. Registration is not required for this event.

This class is FULL! Please join us for the next Kid's Night Out in May! Parents enjoy a night off, while kids have a night out at the Garden. This month’s theme is nocturnal animals. We’ll be learning about how animals see in the dark and other cool adaptations for life at night. Go on a night hike, look for animal’s eye shine, create owl windsocks, play an echolocation inspired game, and, as always, end the night with s’mores made…

Nature Tales: Insect Alphabet Session A

Nature Tales is the Garden’s FREE Story Time and Craft Program for children ages 2-5 and their families. This program will be held outdoors in the NEW Children’s Garden and is run by Garden Education staff, while in-person library programs are unavailable. There are so many kinds of insects! We can think of one for almost every letter of the alphabet.  Join us for a fun preschool story time followed by an insect themed craft. Come prepared to be outside.…

Summer Camp Volunteer Training

Interested in becoming a summer camp volunteer at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden? Come to this training to get ready for volunteering. Camps run from May 24th – August 12th.  Volunteers help children with crafts and outdoor activities, pass out supplies, set up and clean up, and support students with special needs.
