Origami in the Garden!

Cape Fear Botanical Garden (CFBG) is excited to announce its next outdoor exhibition Origami in the Garden2 . Opening May 5th, 2019 and extending into September 2019, CFBG will showcase metal sculptures that will spark creativity and unfold imagination. Created by artists Kevin Box, Te Jui Fu, Beth Johnson, Michael G. LaFosse, and Robert Lang, the 18 pieces will be displayed within the Garden’s 80 acres. An inside exhibition will also be installed throughout the Wyatt Pavilion Complex.

Origami means “folding paper” in Japanese. Origami in the Garden2 tells the story of this art form through a traveling collection of metal sculptures displayed outdoors in public gardens and museums. Each sculpture is inspired by a blank piece of paper that has been transformed into museum quality metal and tells the story of creativity and the art of making something out of nothing.

CFBG extends thanks to The Visual Arts Endowment, David and Helen Clark Art Museum Fund, and Community Arts Endowment of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc., as a funder for the program.

Find zen in this 4-month-long exhibit at Cape Fear Botanical Garden through the art, events and programs. Join us at CFBG for the opening ceremony on May 5th, 2019 at 2:00pm. Guests will have the opportunity to ponder origami’s simple messages and learn its history through interpretive signage, hands on paper demonstrations and educational programs.
