Adult Workshop: Beekeeping and Rolled Candles August 24th 2-4pm
Discover the fascinating world of beekeeping and the art of crafting rolled beeswax candles in this engaging workshop designed for adults. This session offers a unique opportunity to delve into the remarkable realm of these industrious pollinators and the versatile material they produce.
Participants will learn about the fundamentals of beekeeping, including hive management, bee behavior, and the importance of bees in our ecosystem. Meet with a member of the Cumberland County BeeKeepers Association which maintains three active hives at the Cape Fear Botanical in addition to their personal hives. We’ll also try local honey and explore how the bees’ diet influences the flavor of the honey.
In the candle-making segment, explore the traditional craft of rolling beeswax sheets into beautiful candles. You’ll create your own decorative pillar candle using high-quality beeswax and natural additions. The candles make a beautiful decor piece or a wonderful gift. Beeswax is known for its pleasant aroma and clean burning properties.
