Description: Join us for an engaging session on the Red-cockaded Woodpecker (RCW), where we’ll delve into the intricate ecology of the RCW, exploring its family dynamics, fascinating behaviors, and the dedicated local initiatives aimed at restoring this species from near extinction. Additionally, we will uncover the rich history of the Longleaf Pine ecosystem and its symbiotic relationship with fire, crucial for maintaining the habitat essential for the survival of the RCW.
Audience Target: Adults interested in the conservation, wildlife, or local species
Format: A lecture based presentation and question and answer session. Presented by William Johnson, Park Ranger, Carvers Creek State Park
What to Know: Bring your lunch to enjoy a fascinating presentation while you eat and your walking shoes, if you want to go see the garden after the presentation.
