Great Backyard Bird Count

February 19 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come out for a day of bird themed fun with beginning birder workshops for all ages, kids crafts, a touch table, hot chocolate, s’mores, and family fun games. Park Ranger Amber Williams will be here at 10am to lead a birding hike. Free Hot Chocolate will be provided and S’more Kits will be available for $5 per kit (makes four s’mores). Pictures with Bunker the Woodpecker from the Fayetteville Woodpeckers will be FREE if used on a personal camera/device. Admission to the event is free with membership or regular admission. Face painting by Maidens & Monsters Face and Body Art will be available for purchase. Preregistration is recommended. Please preregister here.

Participants can download the free eBird Mobile app to enter bird sighting data themselves or we will have paper data sheets available. Anyone interested in earning the NC Bird Count Badge should register at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSckjkYUOKNl1P_2X7kX0vlFwNBe5rdAjq2CDRDbblX02xGugg/viewform Children in grades K-8 are invited to sign up for the NC Arboretum’s ecoEXPLORE program, a science enrichment program that encourages students to capture images of plants and animals found in nature and upload them to their online account where they can earn various badges and prizes.
