Nature Play Day: Incredible Insects

Discover the incredible world of bugs! With games, activities, a touch table, and a live animal presentations. Families can encounter beetles, millipedes, spiders, butterflies, and more! Nature Play Day: Incredible Insects is an educational event created for families with children ages 2-8.

Hands-on activities, games, and learning opportunities are all leisurely designed so families can explore.

Activities include:

  1. Live Animal Presentations with the Museum of Life and Science
  2. Build a Bug Station: Create and build your made-up insect!
  3. Insect Touch Table: Discover Tiger Beetles, Blue Morpho Butterflies, Huntsman Spiders, and more! This is your chance to look up close at preserved insect specimens.
  4. Create a Fossil: Make a bug fossil using modeling dough.
  5. Camouflaged Bug Hunt: Can you spot all the sneaky insects hiding in the Garden?
  6. Games and Puzzles: Enjoy a selection of insect games and puzzles all available in the Children’s Pavilion
  7. Insect Actions Obstacle Course: Climb through the spider web, duck through the ant tunnel, flutter like a butterfly, and jump like a grasshopper!

Learning Benefits:

  • Encourage outdoor play and nature exploration
  • Learn through play with hands-on activities exploring flowers, pollinators, and seeds
  • Learn at your own pace with interactive table stations and self-guided play

Location: Outdoors in the Children’s Garden

Included with regular garden admission or membership. No pre-registration is required.
